[Honestly, he wanted to get Dwyer something for Candlenights, but he didn't really know what would fit his personality that well. It wasn't like he could run off and gift him a dragon egg or something like that, and besides... that would probably cause more chaos than what it was worth.
Ryuji thinks a little bit on it, then, after they break the snow globe that constrained the entire town in it- and it hits him. The snow in there seemed to be magical, so he went with it. Buying a small vial at the alchemy shop in town, he finds one of the leftover globes on the tree. This is really, a terribly stupid idea. Through a complicated effort of tying himself to a branch, attempting to activate rage, and pushing his hand through the globe, he manages to not get sucked in, nab some of the snow, and pull out.
The tying part was a good idea, too, since he beserks for a while until he can calm himself down, but he did it. He has a vial of perma-snow.
And that's what waiting Dwyer in a little box for him the morning of Candlenights. He doesn't need to know how dumb he was for trying, but as long as the globe up there is still safe, it should keep its snow-like properties. There's some fried chicken, too, bundled up in another box alongside it, and a hand-written note with a small wooden ornament on top.]
Happy Candlenights!
I dunno if I told you this and it ain't related to anything, but the characters making up my name also mean dragon. Anyway, here's some snow from a magic globe. It's probably useless, but I thought, with everything we've been through, that it seemed kinda appropriate to get you something like this.
Hope you have a warm holiday!!! Hit me up when we get back on base.
Yours, Ryuji
OF COURSE sorry this is so late, it's been a busy holiday season...
[It's kind of a weird concept for Dwyer still - Candlenights, specifically. He doesn't get it, but he appreciates the spirit and aesthetic so long as he doesn't have to do anything he doesn't want to do, but strangely enough the idea to give gifts to the Reclaimers he's been getting to know didn't occur to him.
So that's why when he finds the little gift left for him, reads the note, takes a good look at the tiny vial of magic snow, snow that's quite familiar to him after seeing it try to bury all of New Aspen from the other side of splintering, spiderweb-cracked glass and...well, he's not stupid, he can figure out where Ryuji may have gotten this from.
And, well. Gosh. He didn't have to put himself out like that. What if he'd gotten hurt or stuck in another snowglobe? And there's fried chicken too?! Where did he even get that?? AND an ornament!
When they get back to the base, Dwyer thinks to himself, he'll definitely repay Ryuji for this. It's very kind, incredibly kind. It's...it's more than he expected from anyone in this strange realm.]
Very well, she won't turn down a request to meet a Reclaimer for a chat, especially since they've all been through so, so much. Whatever she can do to help them along their journey, she would like to at least... try to provide guidance and support in her own way. She sits, arms folded at the table, posture near perfect as she turns her head to see Dwyer.
[Of course the cafe. This is where Dwyer can at least attempt to shine through partaking in his favorite pastime.
And yes, by some manner, he has procured an apron to wear.]
Good afternoon, Madame Director. [He gives her a bow, not too deep but not too shallow, just right and proper like he's been taught.] Forgive me for asking you out all this way, but I was hoping you would indulge me for a little while. You see, I was able to procure some coffee beans in Vista Virs, and I've been experimenting with the brew. I think it's just about right, and I'd like you to sample it.
[Excuse her candor for a moment, but as she sits, she crosses her legs and thinks about that for a moment. That's something she definitely would not say no to. And she respects his post, doesn't ask about the attire or the way he wants to selflessly do this for someone. She knows who he is and what he stands for.]
I think I'd like that very much, Dwyer. But... only if you promise to sit with me while I drink, and we can share a cup together.
[Is it impolite to watch someone make coffee? This magic black bean potion that gets created by pouring hot water over it, is that a personal sort of thing, or can she stare on and enjoy the process?
Lucretia, after all, is a firm believer and lover of process.]
As much as you say it's an honor for you, believe me when I tell you how deeply tickled pink I am by the gesture, Dwyer. I don't think anyone has ever made me a cup of coffee before. I've always been the one pouring, myself.
[It's not that she has high standards, it's just... efficient for her to do so.]
I can't wait to try your concoction, though. What method are you utilizing? Pour over? Draining? Percolating? Waterdavian Press?
[It's not impolite! He usually doesn't have an audience, but it's kind of fun, in an odd way. It's nice to show off what he's learned and the skills he's honed, even if it's not flashy or containing much in the way of theatrics.]
Really? No one? That's a shame - everyone deserves to have someone make them a cup every now and again. [But he's going to remember that for later. The Director pours her own cups? Respect points.]
I've been doing pour over mostly, though I'd love to experiment more with decoction...but you need the equipment and a lot more spices and additives for that to really work...percolation is good for daily drinking, though.
[Basically, he means he'd love to make Turkish Coffee, but he'll take percolated.]
I haven't heard of any Waterdavian Presses...but I can assume how it works. Which method do you usually like?
12/25 hope actions are okay!

She'll crack a rare smile if that's the case.]
Hm, erm. Well, good afternoon, Dwyer.

[And he's out-coffee'd his father with much worse, at that. But he relaxes a bit at her response to his offer.]
It would be an honor to do so, thank you. [So uh. I guess he gets to work? Would the Director like to watch his caffeine bean methods?]
